Our Story
Founded in 2015 by Ben Solomon following his participation in the National Science Foundation's I-Corps program, FedTech is a venture studio and accelerator that specializes in transforming lab-created research and development (R&D) into market-ready technologies, companies, or solutions. Established around 2015, FedTech partners with U.S. federal agencies and labs, research institutions, universities, and private-sector organizations to identify high-potential innovations and help bring them to commercial fruition.
Our Mission
FedTech’s core mission is to bridge the gap between government-sponsored R&D and private-sector entrepreneurship. The U.S. federal government invests billions of dollars annually into cutting-edge scientific and engineering research, but commercializing those breakthroughs can be challenging. FedTech addresses this challenge through programs and workshops that aim to:
- Identify disruptive technologies
- Match those technologies with entrepreneurs, innovators, and industry partners.
- Accelerate the technologies from concept or patent status to real-world products, companies, or licensing agreements.
- Support participants with mentorship, seed funding strategies, pitch preparation, business model validation, and networking.
