Overview
The Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) Connect Platform, spearheaded by Brookhaven National Laboratory, is an immersive summer fellowship for MSI undergraduate, graduate students and alumni to work in collaborative teams paired with Department of Energy (DOE) lab technology. The fellowship is a training program, intended to build entrepreneurial skills and knowledge around technology transfer and commercialization, as well as to create a pipeline of entrepreneurial talent to transition into the DOE landscape. Successful fellowship teams will have an opportunity to secure up to $75,000 in follow on funding in Phase II at the Final Pitch Event at Brookhaven National Lab in New York.
Week 1: On Site Bootcamp
Weeks 2-8: Virtual Programming
Week 9: On Site Pitch Event
Phase I Funding: $12,900 Summer Fellowship Stipend
Phase I Fellows receive a stipend for 9 weeks. Fellows will build entrepreneurial skills and knowledge around technology transfer and commercialization.
Phase II Funding: $75,000 Seed Grant
Phase II teams will spend 12 months in immersive programming aimed at venture creation.
A Deeper Dive
Applicants Must Be:
- Enrolled full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are at least 18 years of age
- U.S citizens
- Majoring in any of the following programs: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Business, Entrepreneurship, and/or Innovation
