About the Program
J-Bridge CleanTech Connector offers a fast track to collaborate with Japanese companies, through curated introductions. This program will open doors to funded pilots, investments, and strategic international partnerships.
A Deeper Dive
J-Bridge, a program of JETRO, utilizes the capabilities of Japanese companies in product development, manufacturing, marketing, etc. through technical and business alliances. Ultimately J-Bridge serves as a business platform for the creation of cross-border open innovation. As part of their efforts, J-Bridge has partnered with FedTech to design and operate the J-Bridge CleanTech Connector.
The J-Bridge CleanTech Connector aims to help US Cleantech startups partner with Japanese firms to achieve their strategic international goals. Twelve Japanese firms have been selected and will have the opportunity to meet up to three startups. There are over 2,500 J-Bridge Members from about 1,650 Japanese companies interested in open innovation with overseas companies.
The J-Bridge CleanTech Connector is seeking startups of any stage specializing in or with expertise in:
- Renewable energy (solar, wind, hydrogen
- Waste and water management
- Sustainable agriculture and aquaculture
- Carbon capture and utilization
- Circular economy and recycling
- Energy storage
- Electric vehicles and transportation
Startups selected for this program, will receive tailored introductions to Japanese companies interested in their areas of expertise and focus. Additionally, they will be added to the online portal for introductions in the future and events.
About JETRO
JETRO, or the Japan External Trade Organization, is a government-related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. JETRO'S Business Development Team facilitates connections between Japanese and overseas companies, as well as providing business support services to companies expanding to Japan.

Cool Innovation aims to turn 1 trillion USD food loss into economic value. Our technology specializes in extending the freshness of fruits and vegetables without chemical sprays or special packaging. For example, lettuce can stay fresh for 30 days, strawberries for 45 days, grapes for 3 months, and chestnuts for 6 months. We're looking for partners who have the same or similar ICP(s) in North America and interests in what we do.
NGK is looking to collaborate with startups that need separation processes for gases such as H2 and liquids, and we would also like to talk to startups that need ceramic technology.
